Sustainability
We take our social and environmental responsibilities seriously, using mostly renewable energy and supporting local causes.
From the procurement of our raw materials to the delivery of our products to customers, we actively work to reduce our carbon footprint throughout our value chain and beyond.
As a responsible user of aluminium, one of the most sustainable metals on Earth, we are certified to the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative Performance Standard, embracing material stewardship whilst producing the highest quality products.
We actively reduce our impact on the environmental by sourcing renewable energy and minimising our carbon footprint. Our view of sustainability expands beyond environmental management, but also into our local community, where we also help to fund and support many local initiatives including trusts, charities, and community organisations. Within our business, employee safety and wellbeing are critical in our success, and valued at the highest level.
Our carbon footprint on site is minimised by casting approximately half of our own aluminium slabs for rolling, and recycling our own process scrap.
By working with suppliers and contractors who share our commitment to sustainability, we continue to improve our sustainability performance.
Sustainable Development Goals
Bridgnorth Aluminium aligns its reporting and sustainability focus to UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs cover all areas of sustainability, as we aim to do through our own sustainability efforts. Informed by a materiality assessment, we match the areas of sustainability that our stakeholders are most interested in against the SDGs. The systematic process enables us to focus our sustainability efforts on key areas, where we can make a significant and meaningful impact.
In line with the SDGs, our primary sustainability related goals are:
- Good health and well being (goal 3)
- Quality education (goal 4)
- Decent work and economic growth (goal 8)
- Industry, innovation and infrastructure (goal 9)
- Responsible consumption and production (goal 12)
- Life on land (goal 15)
Energy management
Bridgnorth Aluminium goes to great lengths to minimise any impact on the environment, both locally and globally. We source renewable energy supplies, and practice energy recuperation and efficiency techniques, using the heat generated from our casting process to preheat downstream processes.
Conflict/high-risk Area Statement
We, Bridgnorth Aluminium Limited, are not in a high risk or conflict affected area. This is checked annually against the Heidelberg Institute Conflict Barometer. Using our Supplier Code of Conduct and undertaking regular supplier evaluation, we check our suppliers for their labour and human rights policies and practices.
